The UK's leading hard landscaping manufacturer, Marshalls, is delighted to be supporting the Huntingdon Business of the Year awards through sponsorship aimed at promoting and raising the profile of businesses local to the Huntingdonshire area.
Marshalls, which has supplied some of the most prestigious landmarks around the UK with hard landscaping solutions since the 1890's, took over the current St Ives site in Meadow Lane in Huntingdonshire in 1982. It was purchased from ARC as a non-operating factory.
This included 3 machines to manufacture concrete products and 2.5 acres of land. Further acquisitions of the surrounding land followed in 1988 (4.5 acres), 1994 (12 acres) and 2009 (7 acres). The site now covers 26 acres.
The manufacturing buildings and equipment have also been developed over the same period and now the site has 4 distinct manufacturing processes of Wet Cast, Concrete Block Paving, Wet Press and Sawing Facilities and has increased its workforce accordingly from 20 to 170.
The site now operates as one of the largest Service Centres within the Marshalls Group of companies mainly covering the East Anglia Region and London, with some products supplied across the whole of the UK.
Marshalls deal direct with builder's merchants and construction companies operating in the local community who belong to the Marshalls Register of Installers.
